What the Strategic Finance Manager does at Worldwide

The Strategic Finance Manager supports Business Development, Proposals, Contracts and Global Clinical Development teams in providing sponsors with innovative and Strategic commercial offerings with the end goal of securing strategic partner relationships. The Strategic Finance Manager will support the development of commercial structures, including discounting, payment schedules, and other innovative pricing strategies that help differentiate Worldwide’s service offerings. The Strategic Finance Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the fidelity of information used in negotiating and securing contractual and financial terms with our clients, ensuring that risks of any deal structures are mitigated to protect the company’s financial interests.

What you will do
  • Provide integrated strategic pricing support across business units in support of a diverse customer base ranging from small biotech to the top ten largest pharma companies in the world.
  • Create & negotiate creative client-focused deal structures from point of sale through Master Service Agreement or in some cases to salvage an existing strategic partnership.
  • Create, Manage and enforce preferred payment terms at the project / portfolio / partnership level.
  • Act as a conduit and extension for Finance to drive Change Order process to identify out of scope activities and increase recoverable revenue.
  • Advise, consult and liaise with Finance on forecasting and recognition of actuals (Revenue & Cost) to provide project/portfolio level performance.
  • Client facing negotiations with intermittent travel to Sponsor locations for bid defense meetings, governance meetings, and relationship building.
  • Maximize marginal contribution and gross profit on each RFP/contract.


What you will bring to the role
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical and CRO industry.
  • Knowledge of the proposal development process, budgeting, contracting, invoicing, and the overall business organization and functional areas, and commercial strategy.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining a high level of strategic understanding
  • General understanding of financial tools such as rate cards, cash flow, unit and milestone-based payment schedules, inflation, foreign exchange fluctuation, fixed price contracts, functional outsourcing, and profit margins
  • Proficiency in all MS-Office applications with advanced MS Excel skillset (manipulating complex files, designing/auditing algorithms, macros, etc.)


Your experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business / science or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a related role (CRO/Pharmaceutical, Proposals, Contracts, or Finance environment.
  • Commercial experience, ideally in proposals, contracts, and finance.
  • Demonstrated Experience in at least one of the three following key areas:
    • Budget/Pricing Development
    • Corporate Finance
    • Contract Management/Negotiation
  • Possess strong analytical and negotiation skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
