Job Summary
The Airport Operations Supervisor oversees all operational areas to ensure smooth and efficient airport operations. Key duties include monitoring inbound and outbound flights, managing a team of agents, preparing daily reports, updating schedules, and coordinating operational coverage. Supervisors handle data entry in flight management systems, communicate operational updates to staff and vendors, and ensure equipment inventory and functionality.
This role requires a proactive leader who ensures compliance with safety standards, addresses operational concerns, and fosters a culture of excellence. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are critical for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Accurately complete and interpret documentation, including forms, correspondence, and operational records.
- Maintain detailed records of aircraft serviced, flights, and operations performed.
- Monitor computers, telecommunication systems, and surveillance cameras for operational efficiency.
- Post and update bulletins, safety campaigns, and other critical information as management directs.
- Identify and report security breaches, suspicious activity, or non-compliance with site security plans.
- Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and vendors verbally and in writing.
- Manage inventory of operational equipment such as radios, headsets, and wands.
- Oversee lead shift briefings and review operational documents to ensure readiness.
- Use electronic scanning devices and self-service technologies; troubleshoot and escalate technical issues as needed.
- Participate in special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of airport operations agents to meet performance standards.
- Conduct safety briefings and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures.
- Act as a liaison between ground control, flight crews, and ramp agents to maintain smooth operations.
- Provide timely resolutions to challenges such as equipment failures, flight delays, or customer concerns.
- Coordinate emergency responses for incidents like medical events or equipment malfunctions.
- Perform additional duties as required to support seamless airport operations.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and flight crews.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexible schedule to support a 24/7 operation, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Independent decision-making skills when working alone.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English fluently.
- Commitment to regular, punctual attendance.
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
- Compliance with airport security regulations and ability to pass background checks.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in aviation.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry baggage or cargo up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, and moving throughout the airport terminal or warehouse
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs as needed to assist passengers and handle luggage
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Manual dexterity required for handling documents, operating computers, and using two-way radios
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more during shifts)
- Clear vision and hearing required for monitoring flight information, responding to passengers, and ensuring safety compliance
- Capacity to work in confined spaces, such as baggage handling areas or aircraft cabins
- Ability to work in a noisy environment, such as near aircraft engines and ground support equipment
