Primary Functions : Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for any discipline. Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities : Responsibilities include, but not limited to :
- Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and
required contents of estimate.
Attend pre-bid meetings and / or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work, usingFastPIPE or FastDUCT or McCormick and / or ConEst(Intellibid) estimating software.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, includinginformation on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures,
price lists, software uploads, etc.
Support other department personnel as required; may include preparingestimates in other disciplines.
May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost,engineering quality, or availability of materials.
May provide support to field operations regarding MEP estimates.Understanding and interpretation of current NEC chapters 1 & 2.Perform additional assignments as requested / needed.Qualifications :
High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced education preferredAt least 5 years estimating, controls and / or engineering experience related to mechanical constructionProficiency with FastPIPE and / or FastDUCT or similar estimating softwareWorking knowledge of multiple disciplines, estimating techniques and cost controlAbility to interpret computerized cost data and systemsAbility to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
