Overview:
- Direct activities of workers concerned with construction and remodeling of buildings, or other construction projects.
- Manage contracts and provide on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects.
- Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
- Coordinates scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
Typical Functions:
- Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
- Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
- Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce.
- Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel, as well as inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials, to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
- Writes and maintains daily log of activities on the jobsite.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to.
- Prepares, or receives from subordinates, reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
- Manage OSHA compliance on job sites.
- Participate with the Project Manager in issuance of weekly progress reports, monthly payment applications, anticipated cost report, and other financial cost reports.
Requirements:
· Commercial and/or residential superintendent experience. 5 years’ experience in construction industry.
· The ideal candidate is an experienced manager of a team of people with an assertive personality and the ability to lead and inspire.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Proficiency in blueprint / plan reading.
· Must have strong scheduling background, able to fully develop construction schedules.
· Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook.
· Experience working with city/county and other inspectors on construction projects.
· Demonstrate a professional demeanor.
· Knowledge and assisting in estimating.
· Higher education or technical training a plus.
· Background check required.
