Job summary:
Performs manual and automated machine operator tasks for set-up, maintenance and operation of a knife. Responsible for achieving and maintaining customer specifications for each job. Operates the equipment efficiently to produce quality standards, production standards and schedules. Participates in training as directed to maintain and improve skills to increase quality, performance and productivity. Cross-trains to operate, perform efficiently and produce high quality work on other bindery equipment. Accepts additional duties as directed. Cross-trains to perform packaging, handwork duties and other bindery operations. Assists other department personnel in the event of heavy workload, vacations or absences.

Knowledge of printing supplies, terminology and processes. Must be able to accurately read and interpret job specifications and clearly communicate with supervisor, account executives, account managers and all levels of employees to ensure job is properly folded and to ensure job meets customer specifications, production schedule and company quality standards. Must be able to identify problems and use sound judgment to propose and implement solutions. Must be reliable and trustworthy. Must be able to work effectively under pressure. Must be capable of prioritizing and organizing responsibilities in manner which supports the production and delivery schedule and company goals. Initiates and maintains accurate organizational records and information on all jobs. A basic figure aptitude, understanding of weights, measures, decimals and fractions is necessary. A working knowledge of computers and production equipment is necessary.
