What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Programmer 2 position at Worthington Industries?
Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programmers are in charge of programming scripts, which are applications that control the measures of coordinate machines. They are responsible for creating the inspection programs for these automated measuring machines. The programmer also needs to run the CMM equipment in the lab to control plan features in our customer’s product. He or she must create a new program for each customer part. He or she is responsible for calibration of measuring tools.

Essential Functions
- Owns and designs Final and First Piece Inspection programs for existing products and new products as needed.
- Write or edit programs on any of the two styles of CMM’s.
- Ensure that CMM’s are in working condition and properly calibrated.
- Determine program requirements based on design and engineering requirements.
- Measure production parts and set up parts on the CMM.
- Perform various measurement, capability studies and gage repeatability and reproducibility studies using the CMM or hand measurement equipment.
- Responsible for undertaking routine maintenance of the CMM’s.
- Send recall notices on gauges, perform the calibration and record in a database.
- Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.
- When a failure mode can be addressed-detected with the CMM, Programmer will assist the team during problem solving and root cause analysis meetings.
