SUMMARY
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to assist the accounting staff in maintaining the financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting
- Prepares various financial, regulatory, and special reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis as requested by management.
- Completes the accounts payable cycle to ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner. The Accounting Specialist will enter invoices into AvidXchange, obtain necessary payment approvals, and cut and mail out checks.
- Administers and reconciles general ledger clearing accounts daily.
- Reconciles Catalyst Corporate CU, FRB, Corp AM, and FHLB by posting journal entries daily
- Verifies that teller and vault sheets from all locations are in balance.
- Processes quarterly state and federal IRA tax payments including the 945 annual report
- Enters and verifies outgoing wires through FRB.
- Posts incoming wires received from FRB to member accounts.
- Tracks and reports escheated cashier checks and shares to the state of CA.
- Processes encoding errors, late returns, and other share draft adjustments.
- Posts internet allowance for CU staff and BOD
- Posts and balances the credit union’s bi-weekly payroll voucher
- Balances and posts month end journal entries
- Processes Levies and ACH reclamations
- Reviews accrual reports, including loan interest, dividend expense and investment interest
- Reconciles GAP and MBI policies sold
- Reconciles and posts monthly corporate card expenses
- Ensures CU has adequate supplies on hand by monitoring and ordering supplies as needed.
- Maintains working knowledge of various accounting software programs.
- Completes yearly regulatory requirement training. Understands regulatory requirements and can demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of these laws and regulations and how they affect the job.
