Job Title: Wound Care Tech / Provider Assistant
Reports To: Office Admin/Assigned Provider
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate candidate to support our mobile wound care provider in delivering high-quality wound care services to patients in the comfort of their homes or other healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with patient assessments, coordinating care schedules, and ensuring that all necessary medical supplies are available for wound care procedures. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the wound care provider in performing wound assessments and providing appropriate wound care treatment.
- Coordinate patient appointments and schedules, ensuring timely follow-up visits and communication with patients and caregivers.
- Prepare and maintain medical supplies, ensuring that all equipment and materials needed for wound care procedures are available and ready for use.
- Assist with dressing changes, cleaning and debridement procedures, and other routine wound care tasks under the direction of the wound care provider.
- Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any changes in condition or concerns to the wound care provider.
- Ensure proper infection control protocols are followed at all times during the provision of care.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding wound care techniques, hygiene practices, and healing expectations.
- Assist in transporting equipment and setting up the mobile care unit at various patient locations.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and caregivers, to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR Certification
- Healthcare License (EMT, MA, CNA, Surg Tech, LVN, any applicable license)
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in wound care or home health.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to healthcare delivery.
- Ability to work independently, while also functioning as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to patient homes or care facilities.
- Ability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment as required.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, bend, or sit for extended periods of time.
- Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment (up to 30 lbs).
- Ability to assist turning, positioning patients in a manner safe for the duration of the wound care visit.
Work Environment:
- This is a mobile position that requires traveling to patient homes, facilities, or other locations within the designated service area.
- Regularly working in patient environments that may vary in terms of space and conditions.
- Occasional exposure to potentially hazardous materials (e.g., biohazardous waste) and situations requiring the use of protective equipment
Schedule:
- Per diem starting role. Opportunity to grow schedule as we add providers to the area.
Job Types: Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
