Wound Evolution is looking for a Wound Care clinician (LVN or RN) in our private office wound care clinic in The Woodlands, TX.
The clinical nurse is a procedural based nursing position that requires a strong yet efficient registered nurse (RN) or LVN who also possesses excellent communication skills. The clinical nurse will be interacting with fellow nursing staff, technicians, as well as clinicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Daily skills include (but are not limited to):
1) Intake of patients including reviewing medication lists, reviewing patient history with fellow clinicians, taking vital signs, glucose monitoring when applicable, removal of wound care dressings, cleaning wounds, prepping wounds, and placing lidocaine on wounds prior to physician / provider procedures.
2) Case managing of patient care with the physician or midlevel provider. In this secondary role, the clinical nurse must be able to learn measurement of wounds, documentation of wound assessments, photographing of wounds weekly, and notating physician plan of care.
3) All clinical nurses will be trained to perform procedures in the clinic including (but no limited to): simple dressing changes, placement of negative pressure wound therapy; prepping of skin substitutes; compression wrap (multilayer or UNNA boot) placement; and prepping for total contact casting.
4) Non-direct patient care duties will include follow up of phone calls by patients and follow-up of studies including labs, microbiology (tissue cultures), and referrals to appropriate consultants in relation to the patients' wound care treatment plan(s).
Our independent clinic is looking for a nurse with strong communication skills who can adapt quickly to a fast-paced work environment and who can get along well with his / her peers. No prior wound care experience is necessary although it is preferred. We will train all nurses into this practice and will support all nurses to ensure he or she receives appropriate continuing education in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Proficiency with electronic medical records and use of computers are required. All candidates must be licensed in the state of Texas with appropriate certification as a registered nurse prior to hiring.
