Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient assessment and acute pain management, with experience in wound care management. This role is essential for providing high-quality care to patients with complex wound needs, ensuring optimal healing and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate wound conditions and overall health status.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with various types of wounds.
- Perform wound debridement, dressing changes, and other advanced wound care procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and nursing staff, to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to promote healing.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay current with advancements in wound care practices and technologies.
Experience
- Previous experience in a clinical setting, particularly in areas such as PICU or ER, is preferred.
- Familiarity with acute pain management techniques and gastroenterology-related conditions is advantageous.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; additional certifications in advanced wound care are a plus.
- Experience working in a Level II Trauma Center is beneficial for understanding complex cases.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems for documentation and patient management.
- Wound care certification (CWS, CWCN, CWOCN preferred, as those are accredited programs; WCC at minimum, as it currently not an accredited program), or eligibility to obtain certification from an accredited program.
- Experience in grafting and debridement preferred.
- Knowledge of dermal fillers may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
- Ability to lift patients safely and assist with mobility as needed.
