Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic team at WRH, Inc. This role is essential in supporting the accounting department by performing a variety of accounting tasks, specializing in accounts payable. This role requires strong organization and communication skills, an understanding of basic accounting principles, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately on assigned tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable invoices using paperless A/P system
- Communicate with other employees or vendors to obtain W-9s and insurance certificates or to resolve sales tax questions or issues on invoices
- Process the weekly AP check run and mail checks
- Review and reconcile monthly vendor statements
- Set up new AP vendors and assist with the processing of lien waivers and insurance certificates
- Reconcile monthly credit card statements and review coding of credit card charges
- Assist with the processing of weekly payroll, if needed
- Assist with job cost tracking and project accounting
- Support month-end closing activities and prepare financial schedules as needed
- Perform other administrative and accounting-related tasks as assigned
Requirements
- 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management skills with proven ability to plan your time, prioritize tasks, and manage workload to meet deadlines
- High attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately
- Ability to function well within a small team with some shared responsibilities and be flexible and eager to assist where needed
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with construction software (e.g., Sage Intacct, HH2, Procore) a plus
