Performs intermediate administrative work maintaining the payroll software to produce accurate bi-weekly payrolls, and preparing and submitting required County, State, and Federal reports. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
Previous business experience working with budgets and financial audits is preferred.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required upon hire.

- Processes County payroll and system operations; creates, edits, verifies, and audits employee wage, status, benefit, and deduction changes.
- Provides quality assurance for payroll timecard processes by monitoring, correcting, and training County payroll system users; monitors employees pay; notifies Department representatives/supervisors of errors and irregularities and assists in error correction; processes IRS/State levies, garnishments, child support withholding payments and earned income credit advance payments.
- Audits and performs validation procedures on payroll output; submits quarterly and annual reports for County and Special District payroll; W-2's and required Federal filings, Federal report 941, Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting, and PERA reporting; prepares or provides financial statement audit documentation.
- Assists in the preparation of salary and benefit budgeting; maintains personnel and employee benefit workbook for the annual budget process; conducts audits of salary and benefit information to identify calculation problems and make corrections; recommends salary and benefit budget amount County-wide based on detailed analysis.
- Performs general accounting and bookkeeping functions; monitors and reconciles various account balances; analyzes account activities and propose financial adjustments; audits and pays invoices within scope of responsibilities.
- Responds to employee questions and concerns regarding their paystubs. Document changes affecting the employee's payroll and effectively communicate those changes through the County's communication channels.
- Assists in preparation of the County's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
- Performs other duties and activities as assigned.
