Our company is seeking a Food & Beverage Director to oversee all food and beverage outlets at a full-service hotel located in upstate New York. We are looking for an experienced candidate with excellent organizational skills, budgeting and cost analyzing experience.
Job Summary:
Manage the F&B department to ensure high level of guest service and guest satisfaction as related to food and beverage; ensure policies and procedures are adhered to as established by hotel, company, and / or brand standards; engage team-members and leads through creative techniques including inspiring, training, coaching, providing constructive feedback, as well as employee recognition.
Job Tasks / Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assist the General Manager in the preparation of department’s annual budget; continually monitor all F&B department’s performance as compared to budget and make necessary adjustments in order to maximize profitability.
- Schedule staff according to projected occupancy levels; labor standards; continually monitor labor costs.
- Order and receive supplies to maintain par levels (adequate levels) of F&B inventory.
- Conduct scheduled inventory of supplies and equipment per company standard.
- Ensure the policies and procedures of the F&B Department relating to quality of products and services meet compliance standards.
- May plan, coordinate, and oversee special events.
- Maintain communication with other departments regarding F&B events and activities.
- May assist with marketing strategies and/or sales promotions, including marketing materials.
- May assist in menu planning and incorporate a menu pricing structure that supports the bottom-line goals; analyze food costs and beverage costs regarding profit margins and make recommendations.
- Respond to and resolve any and all guest issues in timely and professional manner.
- Responsible for all Human Resource functions for the department – recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, counseling, evaluating, terminating – according to company policies and procedures.
- Exhibit teamwork and cooperation by performing other duties as needed, required, asked, or directed.
- May perform duties of any F&B Team Member as needed.
Job Knowledge / Skills / Abilities/ Other Requirements:
- Two (2) years F&B experience in a director role with a combined five (5) years in a leadership or managerial position.
- Experience operating a multi-outlet food operation a MUST.
- Hotel experience a plus but not required.
- Upscale independent restaurant/ bar experience is required.
- (Basic) Knowledge of general business operations – budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, staffing
- Requires effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with guests, subordinates, vendors, and other hotel staff
- Requires availability on weekends and / or holidays, and possibly alternating shift work
- Basic to intermediate computer skills;
- Experience with labor standard tools a plus
Job Environment:
- Primarily indoors or within hotel facilities
- Requires significant walking and standing for entire shift
- Frequent reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, squatting, kneeling when performing duties of cook, bartender, server, busser or other F&B position
