Wright Plastic Products currently has a 1st shift opening for a Tool Room Coordinator at our St. Clair, MI facility
Minimum Qualifications:
Mold Maker certificate or 8 years' experience.
Completion of mold maker journeyman program preferred
Effectively use CAD systems in design and repairs
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have a good performance record
Must supply own tools
Must effectively communicate with other departments and outside tooling sources
Position Summary:
Responsible to coordinate tooling repairs and maintenance without interrupting production schedules. Oversee training related to production tools, and mold maintenance. Assure that tooling is kept in good operational condition. Assist manufacturing with technical support and part efficiency issues, such as blocked cavities, or cycle hold-ups. Must control internal/ external repair cost while meeting the project deadline. Attend APQP meetings to support new product launch. Perform design changes, repairs or improvements to tooling as directed by Engineering and Manufacturing. Perform assigned duties as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Required to communicate and track repairs when using outside vendors, as directed by management. Effectively communicate and schedule tool repairs with production department and shift coordinators.
- Control repair cost internally and hold outside repair cost to a minimum.
- Eliminate tooling related efficiency issues such as blocked cavities, quality issues, and cycle hold-ups.
- Construct mold components, fixtures, and CAD drawings as needed to perform engineering changes, and repairs. Responsible to program and operate CNC, mills, surface grinders, lathe, and EDM. Effectively train tool room personal in the proper operation of equipment.
- Actively participate in ordering tool room supplies while holding inventories and variable spending to a minimum.
- Required to support continuous improvement efforts and provide technical support to all departments as needed. Attend APQP meetings to review new programs and provide support for new product launches.
- Responsible to oversee mold maintenance personnel and records, for mold maintenance program, and offer support and training as needed. Assist the Maintenance Dept. with technical support, and repairs as needed.
- Required to adhere to work schedule, follow safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work area.
