Production Baker and Packer

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Production Baker & Packaging Team Member is responsible for daily bakery product production, finishing, and packaging while maintaining high-quality standards. All tasks must be completed following Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and food safety regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Production Baker

• Receive prepared doughs, batters, toppings, and other ingredients from the mixing area to meet daily production needs.
• Prepare and bake muffins, cakes, biscuits, breads, rolls, Danish, pies, cookies, and other pastries according to Wright’s SOPs and standards.
• Shape or mold dough using tools such as rollers, cookie cutters, and semi-automated machinery.
• Deposit, spread, and sprinkle batters, fillings, and toppings onto specialty baked goods using portioning scoops, pastry bags, and spatulas.
• Cut and weigh dough into uniform portions using knives, cutters, dividers, and digital scales, and mold dough into loaves or other shapes for proofing and baking.
• Report product quality or inconsistency issues to the shift leader as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace throughout the shift, with thorough cleaning/sanitizing of tables, equipment, shelves, pails, bins, and other necessary items at the end of the shift.
• Stay informed by reading weekly memos and attending meetings.
• Use technology for scheduling, payroll, spreadsheets, forms, checklists, and SOPs.

Packaging

• Receive and organize a variety of products from other departments for packaging and presentation.
• Package products according to specific SOPs, ensuring proper labeling and visual appeal.
• Add finishing touches such as icing or nuts to products as needed.
• Learn and efficiently operate equipment required for daily packaging tasks.
• Communicate effectively with store and bakery staff about product needs and schedules.
• Help clean and sanitize the workspace, including tables, floors, and equipment.
• Stay informed by reading weekly memos and attending meetings.
• Use technology for scheduling, payroll, spreadsheets, forms, checklists, and SOPs.

Travel:

No travel is required for this position.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Strong math skills.
• One year of professional baking or food service experience preferred.
• Baking or culinary courses are preferred.
• Previous production or packaging experience is preferred but not required.
• Availability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and occasional nights as the business dictates.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the essential job functions for this position, the employee is regularly required to:

• Required to work standing for 8-10 hours per shift
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently lift or move objects up to 50 pounds alone, occasionally lift or move objects up to 125 pounds with a partner; moving or rolling bins and racks up to 200 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
• Fine motor skills for tasks such as shaping dough, adding decorative finishes, and operating small tools or equipment.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, airborne food particles (e.g., flour, sugar, nuts), and loud noises in a fast-paced environment within close proximity to others.
