Job Summary : The DOT Compliance Manager shall manage and oversee a company-wide fleet and driver compliance program. The DOT Compliance Manager shall also oversee all local, state, federal, and FMCSA regulatory compliance matters and filings for the organization and its subsidiaries.
Essential Job Duties :
- Develop and continually improve the organization’s DOT compliance program to achieve satisfactory safety performance scores and metrics
- Manage internal and external compliance reporting, provide compliance advice, conduct compliance investigations, and administer driver education program
- Monitor the Safety Management System to ensure all recorded information is accurate
- Manage driver training and skills assessment, including onboarding training and orientation program, remedial training, and regular driver assessments
- Conduct and / or oversee the tasks associated with driver qualification (e.g., Medical Cards, physicals, CDL) and operator records (e.g., employment applications, DOT-required documents, MVR, organizational policies and procedures, CSA, criminal background, previous employment verification)
- Administer the organization’s drug screening program for operators
- Serve as the corporate representative in legal matters related to DOT compliance and / or auto liability
- Work with the General Counsel to investigate and respond to all regulatory agency notices, actions, proceedings, complaints, and / or citations
- Conduct on-scene investigations into accidents involving a serious injury or fatality as directed and document same
- Manage vehicle registration and licensure processes
- Assist with the organization’s Certificates of Insurance procedures
- Implement and monitor compliance controls, analyze data trends, and make recommendations for improvements
- Engage with the organization’s fleet management software systems, including updates and training opportunities
- Monitor regulatory environment for potential changes, devise and implement strategies to comply with the changes in an orderly and timely manner
- Collaborate with management to establish strategies for correcting any deficiencies found in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) or during routine monitoring and / or audit processes
- Administer the driver selection and suitability matrix for candidates and current workers. (Related to their record of violations and accidents)
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the industry and regulations related to assigned responsibilities
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
