ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:
- Work from the ground using gasoline-powered weed eaters, blowers, chainsaws, and hand tools. Removing vegetation around the base of power poles.
- Hiking in rough terrain inspecting power lines and equipment on power poles.
- Operate handheld devices entering work completed.
- Help enforce on-the-job safety practices for crew members.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area. Cooperate with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways. Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc. to protect employees as well as the public.
- Apply herbicides to bare soil around the base of power poles.
- Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at the work site.
- Drive a truck in all different types of terrain.
- Keep the work area picked up and orderly.
- Service truck and equipment, maintaining them in a neat, clean, and specified mechanical order. Reports the need for equipment and truck maintenance to the General Foreperson.
- Responsible for maintaining all circuit maps and paperwork cleanly and professionally.
- Must pass a pre-inspection test prior to the start of the inspection cycle.
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

- Position may require some outside travel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Possess the ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 50 pounds frequently.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Need to be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day.
- Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work, and will be subject to call-out work.
- Ability to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
- Maintain an herbicide applicator certificate or applicator’s license as required by policy and local, state, and federal law.
- Must have valid First-Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involves medium work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or make general observations of the community; close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are subject to environmental conditions of both inside and outside activities, and may be routinely exposed to noise, vibration, working hazards such as proximity to moving parts, mechanical equipment, moving vehicles, electrical current, heights, exposure to heat, exposure to chemicals, work in close quarters, narrow aisles or passageways, communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and a variety of pets.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find a resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with employees which may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
