The TOC Engineer, located in our Cherry Hill, NJ office, is responsible for supporting the entire company’s broadcast technical operations in a HUB environment. Under the direction of Management, configure and deploy broadcast network infrastructures, maintain systems, remove equipment and wiring, and update documentation. Provide direct technical support with local market engineers as necessary. Thinking critically and creatively for both troubleshooting and problem resolution in a frequently changing television operation is a must. The position requires excellent professional demeanor and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask as well as prioritize daily assignments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the entire company’s broadcast technical operations
- Install, configure, integrate, and administer digital broadcast systems and IT equipment as directed
- Monitor for incidents, troubleshoot, and resolve problems locally and remotely
- Monitor the operation of broadcast stations’ encoding and transport equipment
- Monitoring of incoming network feeds and RNN stations’ broadcast returns to quickly and effectively respond to issues.
- Ability to resolve technical issues during times of critical need and perform disaster recovery procedures as needed
- Provide support for other departments in their interactions with these systems and respond to emergencies as well as routine help requests
- Monitor and assist in troubleshooting automation playout systems, routing, and transmission systems to ensure that RNN quality standards are being broadcast
- Assist in the development and organization of HUB operations as they are being developed and built.
- As needed, He or she will also be responsible to fill-in as Master Control Operator including ingest of content, loading playlists into automation, responding to Traffic and operate broadcast automation equipment for multiple channels in a hub environment
- Communicate with local market engineers on a regular basis, updating them to any issues in their respective markets
- May be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances
- Some travel may be required
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Broadcast experience, technical and/or operational preferred
- 2 Years relevant field or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience in handling and troubleshooting broadcast technology systems
- Cable repair and terminate BNC, Network, and audio cables
- Familiarity with file based media work flows including Broadcast ingest/encoding, and broadcast automation systems would be a plus.
- Strong communication and multitasking skills with professional attitude that can effectively support RNN broadcast hub operations
- Proficiency in operating and evaluating technical equipment such as signal routers, waveform monitors, vector scopes and stream analyzer equipment
- You are motivated to learn new systems and equipment
- A demonstrated ability to stay calm, think clearly, act strategically, and prioritize tasks during emergencies
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed procedures
- A demonstrated history of being punctual and reliable in adhering to a set work schedule
- Ability to read and understand technical materials
- Hold a valid driver's license
- Must be flexible to accommodate shift changes including extended hours, weekends, and evenings
- Ability to work on ladders, stand for long periods of time, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs
