Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
· Lead the technical review and approval of all tax returns and government tax examinations, handling complex cases with expertise.
· Serve as a subject matter expert within your discipline or industry, offering insights and guidance on technical tax matters.
· Ensure that all client service tasks are completed efficiently and within budgeted timeframes.
· Take full responsibility of large tax returns, delegating tasks to tax preparers as necessary for efficient workflow.
· Actively participate in company meetings, client meetings, tax planning, and strategy discussions to provide valuable input.
· Serve as a key resource for tax preparers and specialists, addressing complex tax issues and questions.
· Assume client service responsibility for clients directly managed by the Tax Manager, or those delegated from upper management.
· Maintain a strong understanding of the qualifications and skills of all tax staff, ensuring appropriate task assignments.
· Contribute to the development and growth of the team (senior, semi-senior, and staff accountants) by conducting performance evaluations, providing training materials, and leading training sessions.
· Oversee accurate and timely billing and collections processes.
· Possess comprehensive knowledge of the firm's tax philosophy and positions on relevant matters.
· Stay informed on general economic, political, and legislative trends that could impact tax policies or the business environment.
· Participate in business development efforts, engaging with referral sources and participating in community and industry events.
· Regularly evaluate and review the performance of the tax department to ensure effective operations.
· Travel occasionally for client meetings and industry seminars.
· Travel to other firm office locations as needed.
· Be prepared for occasional overtime, particularly during peak seasons from January 1 to April 15, and potentially from August 1 to October 15, with hours sometimes exceeding 60 hours per week.
Qualifications:
· 8 years of experience in public accounting, with demonstrated growth in handling increasingly complex tax matters, scope, and research.
· At least 8 years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
· Minimum 8 year of experience supervising and directing tax preparers.
· A current, valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
· Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat.
· Experience with QuickBooks, Payroll, and CCH Axcess Tax is preferred.
