Job Summary
The Fleet and Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety protocols and procedures across multiple locations. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, reducing accidents, and promoting a culture of safety within the fleet operations and company.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of fleet operations, minimizing risks, and fostering a culture of safety. This position requires a proactive approach to safety management, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversees all aspects of fleet optimization, ensuring vehicles are operationally sound and cost-efficient while staying compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and feedback from employees.
- Work closely with branch managers, department heads, and senior leadership to align fleet and safety strategies with business goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by encouraging employee participation in safety and operational initiatives.
- Develop and implement training policies and procedures to enhance safety and efficiency companywide.
- Proactively coach and train employees in all facets of safety performance.
- Maintains current knowledge of OSHA, DOT and FMCSA regulations and other relevant safety and compliance standards.
- Oversees on-site inspections, assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct root cause analysis on incidents or issues related to fleet operations and implement corrective actions.
- Manage training development programs for staff on fleet and site safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed reports on fleet performance metrics, maintenance costs, and incident reports.
- Conducts new driver safety training, including pre/post trip inspections & Electronic Logging Device (ELD) training.
- Collaborate with external vendors on fleet, personal protective equipment (PPE), forklift/order selector, and other services as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of facility and fleet inspections, maintenance logs, corrective actions, training and compliance documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information as presented through workers compensation claims and driver qualification files.
- Collaborate with Managers to ensure new employees receive comprehensive safety training, as well as routine training protocols for all other staff.
Requirements
- Experience in fleet and safety management or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation regulations and procedures.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze data effectively to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, co-workers, and management.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise good judgement in decision making and prioritizing.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $68,010.00 - $71,521.00 per year
