Our Project Controls & Technology Team is seeking a Part-Time Business Analyst Intern to work from our Baton Rouge, LA office. Interns will work closely with senior staff on real projects, gaining valuable insights into business analysis and data intelligence. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
This internship is anticipated to take place during the Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 semesters. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 19th, 2025. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

- Trusted Advisor: Act as a trusted advisor and advocate, ensuring Project Delivery Teams can execute their plans with the right applications to serve their needs and scale throughout organizational change and innovation.
- Detail-Oriented and Eager to Learn: Detail-oriented with a strong appetite for learning and growth; not afraid to admit when you don't know something.
- Support Tasks: Support a variety of business analyst and project management tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn Principles: Learn basic principles of Business, Systems, and Process Analysis.
- Project Research: Assist with project research, deriving comprehensive, scalable, and flexible designs for forthcoming processes and/or applications.
- Process Re-Engineering: Support process re-engineering, assess current state processes and capabilities, and implement development and operational readiness to guide project development towards transformative systems aimed at increasing innovation in process, program management, and data visualization.
- Documentation: Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Interview and Communication: Interview and maintain communication with Technology Services and Project team members and other stakeholders to define business workflows, data needs, application requirements, and desired outputs. Create system diagrams and manage the review and change process until finalization. Develop functional specification requirements and manage the review and change process until finalization. Complete the functional specification document.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Required Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Demonstrated interest in Business Analysis, Data Analysis, Computer Engineering, Transit & Infrastructure, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
- Experience using basic proficiency with technical writing and MS Office software.
- Familiarity with web application requirements gathering/needs analysis, functional specification writing, and developing technical specifications for web solutions.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
