WSP has an immediate opening for a Senior Resident Engineer working out of our field office in Allston, Massachusetts to work with our Harvard - Allston Campus Infrastructure construction management team to act as a construction point person for a major Water and Sewer Utility Agency from preconstruction through closeout. The Resident Engineer will report to the Client’s managing consultant, Engineer of Record, and major Water and Sewer Utility Agency during the construction phase when the Utility Agency’s infrastructure is being installed or to monitor adjacent work close to Utility Agency’s infrastructure, verifying conformance with Utility Agency’s standards. The overall development program will have multiple construction projects with combined values up to $50 million. As part of a collaborative team, the resident engineer will be the construction lead for the Engineer of Record interface with other 3rd party utilities, Harvard University representatives or their designees, design engineers, and construction contractors, while overseeing activities relating to the Utility Agency’s Infrastructure.

Your Impact
- Inspect and/or manage a field staff responsible for contract administration, inspection and documentation.
- Prepare daily reports, including overall weekly progress reports.
- Respond to and help resolve field issues related to infrastructure installation or operations, and concur with appropriate parties of Utility Agency or Design Engineer.
- Support the technical submittal, shop drawing, and RFI process, with input, as requested, in collaboration, with the Engineer of Record
- Document quality assurance/control, daily inspection, reporting, and materials testing, or utility testing is being performed and effective.
- Attend meetings and report on Utility Agency Infrastructure progress, including issues identified, resolved or having action.
- Coordinate and schedule Designer’s hold-point inspections
- As requested, review and recommend contractor pay estimates, or on individual schedule of value amounts, being requested.
- Identify potential change orders and advise Harvard University designees.
- Work with utility owners to gain acceptance and turnover.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Routinely interface with Utility Agency representatives to advise on progress, field or technical issues identified and resolved.
- Monitor permitting and traffic management plan requirements related to utility installation.
- Assist the Project Manager with overall project administration, as instructed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 10 years of construction project engineering and inspection experience, including evidence of effective staff supervision and management.
- Strong computer skills including MS Suite and Project, Adobe, Bluebeam, SharePoint or others.
- Strong interpersonal traits, written and verbal communication skills.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP"s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Boston & Water Sewer Commission experience, although any major water & sewer agency will be considered.
- Experienced with CM @ Risk, CMGC, Design-Build, or other forms of project delivery.
