The successful applicant will support our team using GIS analytical skills to prepare figures and maps to support our environmental and engineering clients, and coordinate with project teams to develop products from imagery, LiDAR, and other geospatial sources. Programming and relational database experience is preferred as our ideal candidate will also engage with and support our dedicated data management team. The ideal candidates will have a BS degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or equivalent degree or certification with around 0-2 years of experience.We are interested in a candidate who is genuinely excited and enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions for our engineering (technology) related projects and clients. We’d love you to join our team of friendly, hard-working, dedicated, and collaborative professionals.Your ImpactWill perform both geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, management and analysis, cartography, and develop / use automated GIS processes using a variety of software environments.Will work in a production-oriented environment as part of a team.Will create high quality maps, GIS analysis, and data for reports to support a variety of Engineering and Environmental projects.Manage projects related to GIS database design and management, qualitative / quantitative analysis, mapping, and data visualizationMaintain metadata and best practices to support systems and data.Help coordinate the GIS workload for Portland Maine projects and work with local leadership to balance workload and staffing needsServe as a mentor to junior GIS staff and allocate and review project tasksProactively strategizes and anticipates risks and issuesCommunicate with project team members to define data needs, project requirements, and desired outputsEngage other Subject Matter Experts and technical support staff as neededParticipate in client meetings, when requiredExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.Who You AreRequired Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related degree / certification.3-5 years of relevant, professional experienceProficiency using ESRI ArcGIS softwareGeneral awareness of AutoCAD, Python, Visual Basic, Arcade, R, or SQL programming.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft 365 skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Power BIAnalytical skills, and familiarity with research techniques, modeling data, scanning and digitizing files, and experience maintaining records and databases with assigned projects required.Creative problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, assorted field applicable technologies, web mapping applications and tools.Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies.Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications : Experience with ArcGIS Online (AGOL) environmentCustomization of GIS software using PythonExperience with non-GIS engineering softwareExperience with relational databases such as SQL-Server or EQuISFamiliarity or experience with FEMA RiskMAPCAD / BIM / Digital Engineering Application ExperienceExperience with ArcGIS ArcadeAbility to travel occasionally, as needed (less than 10% travel anticipated)Experience with presenting GIS findings / results in a collaborative environment#LI-SS2About WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
