POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direct supervision of the Asset Protection Area Manager (APAM) the role of the Asset Protection Agent (APA) is to ensure the safety of our customers and associates along with the protection of company assets. The APA is the first and last impression of the WSS brand and must be helpful and courteous to our customers. To be effective at this job, APA should be detail-oriented team players with strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor sales floor by providing Extreme Customer Service (ECS) and using CCTV as needed to identify suspicious behavior.
- Handle emergency/crisis incidents while ensuring the safety and security of all store team members and customers.
- Conduct regular foot patrols and surveillance of the sales floor.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a visible security presence.
- When able, assist with customer service and direct customers to the appropriate department and/or team members.
- Document & report all theft incidents or situations where law enforcement has been called to respective APAM.
- Must be willing and able to testify in court and cooperate in police investigations.
- Inventory Management; Conduct Cycle Counts to identify potential shrink/losses and report Shrink Related losses daily/weekly as required.
- Recovery of Merchandise (RECOM) to avoid shrink related losses (When safe to do so and within company policy)
- Conduct and fill out Daily Security Checklist as it applies to your shift.
- Promote teamwork by educating store associates and new hires on safety and their role in preventing losses.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. This individual must be a self-starter who needs little to no guidance. EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School or GED equivalent
- Previous experience in security, asset protection, and/or retail a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Bend and twist at the waist, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, kneel or squat, as needed
- Stand or walk at least 8 (eight) hours each day/shift
- Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Climb a step stool or ladder
- Communicate effectively in person and on the phone.

- Available to relocate within a 25-mile radius based upon the needs of the business
- Available to work a variety of hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient in conflict resolution and skilled in de-escalation techniques
