About the Role
Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Swager Operator for our Blytheville, AR facility. As a Swager Operator, you will play a key role in setting up and operating swaging machines to ensure optimal efficiency and product quality. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM - 4:00 AM
Pay: $23.08 per hour plus Production Incentive plus Attendance Bonus
What You’ll Do
• Set up the swaging machine according to the tube size and specifications.
• Operate and monitor equipment, including the touch screen functions on the operator's console.
• Adjust and maintain swager tooling and machines to optimize efficiency and maximize uptime.
• Monitor the quality of swaging during processing, making necessary adjustments.
• Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all machinery and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform all size, gauge, grade, and shape changes on the production line for assigned tube and pipe mill.
• Troubleshoot, solve, and communicate problems to the crew and supervision to ensure product quality.
• Assist maintenance in performing basic preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
• Complete all required paperwork, production records, and inventory logs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Technical School Diploma preferred.
• Previous experience as a machine operator or mill operator strongly preferred.
• Experience in tube mill manufacturing is highly beneficial.
• Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to work with decimals and fractions.
• Ability to diagnose equipment and quality problems and implement solutions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Basic computer skills to look up work orders and interact with software programs.
• Experience with measuring devices (e.g., tape measures, micrometers, calipers) preferred.
• Ability to maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance as scheduled.
Physical Abilities
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, and reach in all directions as needed.
PPE Requirements
The following personal protective equipment may be required:
• Enhanced visibility work uniforms
• Safety glasses, goggles, or face shields
• Hard hats or climbing helmets
• Fall arrest harnesses
• Hearing protection (ear plugs)
• Steel-toed footwear with possible metatarsal protection
• Respiratory protection (dust masks and/or respirators)
• Welding helmet and attire (as needed)
Machinery and Equipment
You may be required to operate:
• Various hand tools
• Overhead cranes
• Forklifts, industrial trucks, and elevated work platforms
• Heavy machinery
• Welding and cutting equipment
