What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Handler position at WTX Outdoor Living Co?
Purpose:
Material Handlers/Runners work hand and hand with our Project Superintendents, Project Managers & Project Coordinators. This role is vital to the preparation of every single project. The responsibilities for this role can consist of material pickup and deliveries, project staging, inventory control, and equipment care/management. The Material Handler will mainly coordinate with our Project Coordinator on what material is required to be prepped or delivered for our in-house crews and subcontractors with project start dates and deadlines. Inventory control plays a very important aspect to this role, notifying our Project Coordinator when material is in good stock or purchasing needs to be made. Performance of the Material Handler can be measured by the recorded project delays or setbacks, and job completion efficiency; they will also be evaluated quarterly by the Construction Superintendents and Project Coordinator.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the construction team to ensure material is staged in advance prior to project start date.
- Keeping inventory count of material and organizing shop bays
- Delivering material to job sites (Truck, trailer or dump truck).
- Load trailer(s) with material using a forklift and securing material correctly using straps or booms
- Making sure material is on site before breaking ground
- Material Handlers should always be looking to increase bottom line profit by saving money/material and will be incentivized to do so
- Contact maintenance crew regarding preventive and corrective maintenance
Core Requirements & Skills:
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively manage responsibilities.
- Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
- Ability to communicate on a technical and professional level while interfacing with all project stakeholders
- Verifying the quality and quantity of incoming deliveries.
- Collaborating with internal departments to locate missing or delayed deliverables, fix incorrect deliveries and assist in replacing damaged products.
- Bilingual (Must have or able to communicate smoothly).
- Valid DL
- Must be able to drive standard vehicles.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
