The Family Child Care Specialist willprovide coaching for the Family Child Care providers to ensure high quality of services is being provided, at each Famiy Child Care home including school readiness activities are being implemented in accordance with the General Child Care and Developement (CCRT) requirements. To train Providers on educational activities, curriculum and conduct safety monitoring in the Famliy Childcare Provider homes. The Family Child Care Specialist will serve as the main link for providing resources and guidance on general licensing regulations.
The Family Child Care Specialist will work with families to provide services in the areas of health, mental health / Inclusion and family needs. Assist in recruitment, enrollment of eligible families in addition to supporting families in accessing varied community resources.
Position : ( 2 positions) Full time 40 hour per week On-site position
Hours : Monday - Friday 8 : 30 am - 5 : 00 pm
Location : 827 Broadway St. San Francisco CA 94133 (Req #1606 Bilingual Cantonese & Req 1611 Bilingual Spanish)
Primary Responsibilities Include :
- Provide guidance and training to 5-8 Family Child Care Providers to ensure the General Child Care and Development (CCTR) requirements in the Family Child Care program is in compliance with regulatory requirements; ensure that the Family Child Care providers are in compliance with contractual obligations.
- Conduct 1 monthly visit to each Family Child Care home to observe educational activities and support providers on developing Lesson Plans and the use of the creative curriculum. Some visits are unannounced (at least 3 unannounced per contract period).
- Provide 1 hour coaching sessions to a maximum of 2 providers in a 4 month period.
- Monitor family childcare settings at least once per month to ensure that health and safety licensing regulations are in compliance. Ensure that the general school readiness activities such as ASQ screenings, child observations, Lesson Plans, Parent / Provider conferences and individual learning Plans are occuring within specified program deadlines.
- Support FCC Provider to complete DRDPs and Lesson Plans.
- In collaboration with the FCC Program Manager and community partners, design ongoing professional development pathways to support the growth of family child care provider competencies in ealy childhood development and education.
- In collaboration with the FCC Manager and service area Head Start content managers, develop individualized and group traing plans for FCC Providers.
- Attend and Education Team meetings on a monthly basis.
- Prepare written communications for providers and parents, i.e., memos, flyers, newsletters and forms as needed in the provider / parent home language.
- Document all contacts with providers, families families, staff and partners in the file log and database;maintain child and provider files in accordance with state and local regulations.
- Provide comprehensive child and family support services to a caseload of at least 19-22 families with 0-3 year old in the CCTR FCCHEN program.
- Conduct Family orientation meetings for each new family enrolling.
- Participate in transitionentry planning and meetings.
- Conduct check in evey 6 weeks via phone contacts with famlies and / or meet in person as needed for completion family service activity.
- Complete Needs Assessment (Famliy Profile) for each family.
- Maintain on-going recordkeeping with Family contact notes to document each service contact.
- Arrange a quarterly Family Committee meetings and family education workshops or individualized meetings for caseload.
- Document family and child services in Child Plus data base on all service activities.
- Participate in recruitment / outreach activities to enroll new children into the program as needed.
- Assist families in completing pre-school enrollment applications for children making transition to pre-school program.
- Participate in each family orientation to facilitate completion of enrollment paperwork.
- Work collaboratively with Enrollment team to assure smooth selection, orientation and enrollment of children into and out of the program.
- Asisst families in navigating the health care system to ensure children's health care needs are addressed and followed up on as needed.
- Participate in quarterly Family Services Meeting for trainings and informtaion sharing on family services.
- Participate in monthly in FCC Team meetings for service collaboration and information sharing.
- Contact families of absent children and complete the absence request form.
- In collaboration wuth FCC Manager and FCC provider, arrange attendance intervention meeting to address attendance concerns.
- Other related duties as assigned.
