The Classification and Compensation Specialist will lead efforts to administer an effective and equitable classification and compensation program. This role involves assessing current policies and procedures, analyzing workforce data, and implementing compensation initiatives at the organizational level. The Specialist will also provide training and support to enhance best practices in classification and compensation management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize expertise in job analysis and compensation to support organizational design and workforce management.
- Review position management requests and classify positions across all levels of the organization.
- Analyze workforce data, audit and report on classification and compensation trends, and develop clear job descriptions.
- Manage, update, and streamline processes to ensure transparency and efficiency.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve organizational alignment and equity.
Authority and Accountability:
- Analyze complex business challenges to develop solutions that meet operational needs while ensuring compliance with labor regulations and organizational policies.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment, managing various initiatives and delivering results independently.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing clear and actionable guidance to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- No direct supervisory or budgetary responsibilities are included in this role.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience in business process analysis, classification, or compensation.
- Familiarity with federal and state labor, wage, and employment laws.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional customer service and build positive relationships across diverse teams.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create clear visuals, diagrams, or documentation.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and deliver results independently.
- Strong analytical skills with intellectual curiosity and a problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a higher education setting.
- PHR or SPHR certification.
