What are the responsibilities and job description for the READING INTERVENTIONIST/SPECIAL EDUCATOR - MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL position at WUMHS?
This position will provide personalized ELA/literacy instruction, targeted literacy support, and other targeted instruction/support to students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of screening and diagnostic assessments and goal setting, as well as a deep understanding of effective intervention practices in line with CCSS, basic literacy skills, and universal design for learning. In addition, the ideal candidate would have the ability to create and personalize alternative pathways for any high school students looking for English/ ELA credits that are in line with the MVSU Portrait of a Graduate components as well as students’ individual needs and interests. This is a collaborative position and the person fulfilling this role would work closely with the 7-12 MTSS Coordinator, special education team, counselors, and classroom teachers.
Requirements:
- Special Education license
- 3-5 years of experience in the field of special education
- 3-5 years of experience in the field of English Language Arts
- Experience providing writing instruction and intervention
- Experience providing tier 2 and 3 reading intervention
- Experience creating personalized programs that provide flexible pathways
Bonus:
