Wunderlich Malec Services is in the process of opening a new 60,000-sqft manufacturing facility in Baldwin, FL (a suburb of Jacksonville, FL). This facility will primarily focus on manufacturing and fabricating electrical control panels and modular buildings for the electric utility and industrial electrical markets as an extension of our successful Winslow, ME facility, which has been in operation since 2004.
The Project Engineer & Technical Services Lead ensures that all electrical & mechanical drawings from customers are thoroughly analyzed and verified. This role is responsible for ensuring the Bill of Materials (BOM) is accurate and complete and for preparing detailed shop floor fabrication documentation and instructions for fabrication and assembly. The Project Engineer & Technical Services Lead is critical in translating designs into actionable instructions for electrical and mechanical technicians and coordinating with various departments to resolve issues and streamline production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and review electrical and mechanical drawings provided by customers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Verify that the BOM contains all necessary parts for all projects (electrical panels, e-houses, etc.)
- Create detailed shop floor lists for harness preparation, including wire cutting, labeling, and panel wiring instructions
- Identify and communicate discrepancies or issues in drawings or BOMs with Project Managers, Quality Control, Sales, and Production teams
- Ensure documentation is organized, accurate, and updated in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure efficient workflow and resolve technical challenges
- Maintain detailed records and ensure clear communication across all departments involved in the production process
- Responsibility for the manufacturing traveler packets from creation, through red-line, to as-builts
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related discipline (BSEE preferred). Associate degree and significant experience will be considered
- PE certification is preferred but not required
- PMP certification is preferred but not required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of organization
- Effective leadership and communication skills for cross-department collaboration
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Ability to analyze complex electrical drawings and specifications
- Team-oriented mindset and openness to learning new processes
Preferred Experience:
- Background in electrical protection and control systems
- Experience working with electric utility companies or in related industries
- 3-5 years of experience in electrical panel manufacturing, technical services roles, and/or quality roles
