General Description Of Position

Manage the technical, tactical, and development planning for Custom Design Engineering through the design and development of magnetics, utilizing knowledge of electronic theory, materials properties and construction techniques, to support the custom requirements of IC developers and direct customers. Support production and maintain document history and control throughout the lifecycle of the product. Develop technical documentation and provide technical support to sales staff, production staff and customers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage Custom Design Engineers and Design Coordinators/Assistants for the Americas team to ensure the support, technical acumen, and collaborative growth are well planned for and executed.
  • Monitor capacity (growth and succession) needs and maintain staff by recruiting, on-boarding, training, assessing and promoting employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide guidance, support and opportunities for professional development.
  • Support and fulfill internship opportunities for Design Engineering department.
  • Collaborate with other eiTaC team leaders and other supporting department managers to ensure interested parties’ expectations are aligned toward the company vision and department milestones.
  • Ensure procedures, record retention and quality system manual documentation hierarchy is understood and maintained for ISO9001 compliance.
  • Evaluate processes, identify waste or weakness and make proposals to optimize within the region considering global interest and maintaining global compliance. Implement and train said proposals.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for guiding the team’s success.
  • Define scope and assignment of team level projects.
  • Develop magnetics (transformer and inductor) designs to achieve customer's electrical, construction and mechanical requirements.
  • Recognize the need for and recommend product changes strategy based on materials compliance and safety agency changes, process and component improvement, material availability, etc.
  • Facilitate escalations and moderate conflict between Design Engineering, Quality and Production teams or individuals.
  • Understand safety agency specifications and environmental restrictions and ensure applicable designs are within these guidelines to meet customer's requirements.
  • Identify market needs and coordinate the development of components and package styles that enhance design capability and increase product offering.
  • Travel and provide technical support to sales staff, customers, and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify, develop and implement design tool resources to improve design and customer support effectiveness.
  • Reviewing and approving team schedule, attendance and expense reports.
  • Utilize design team resources to support the development of application notes, technical notes, presentations for trade shows and write blogs or articles promoting our products, knowledge and service.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education And Experience

Four-year technical degree (I.E. bachelors) or equivalent experience required. In such fields such as engineering, physics, science, computer engineering, etc, plus 5 or more years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
