Overview
HD Biosciences, Inc. (San Diego), a WuXi AppTec Company, is seeking a highly skilled and Research Associate II to join the histology lab in our In Vivo Pharmacology department to support various projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine histology work including tissue grossing, trimming, embedding, Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) and frozen sectioning, H&E and other special staining for both human and rodent animal tissue.
- Performs singleplex and multiplex chromogenic and fluorescence based in situ staining including immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF).
- Conducts the bright field and fluorescence-based histology image scanning.
- Performs hematology analysis of blood samples from rodent animals.
- Schedules studies, reviews protocols, data collection and supports the completion of research study final report and other scientific documents.
- Participates in draft quotations.
- Supports the writing of SOP drafts.
- Participates in the internal study for developing, implementing, optimizing and validating animal models in different diseases.
- Communicate with internal colleagues and external clients to promote a world-class service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related field.
- 2 - 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Previous experience in histology core facility or lab (academic or industry) is required.
- Experience in handling rodents/mice in In Vivo pharmacology studies is preferred, not required.
- Previous experience in biomarker discovery lab is preferred, not required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills; able to read, write and understand English.
- Ability to collaborate across different functional teams.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and performing data analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- High standards of scientific rigor and integrity.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
- Ability to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals.
- Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility.
- Able to wear appropriate PPE.
- Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 10 lbs. routinely/ often / occasionally.
- Clarity of Vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Ability to perform activities with repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in variable temperatures up to freezing.
- Inside/outside working conditions.
Anticipated hourly rate: $25.83 to $33.61

Salary : $26 - $34
