What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Resources Specialist 3 position at WV Department of Health?
Nature of Work
Provide services to support the source water assessment and protection program including reviewing source water protection plans, attending public hearings and assisting in completion of source water assessments for new systems. Work with systems primarily in the Kearneysville District area that are required to develop source water protection plans. Participate in the PWS determination of Surface Water Influenced Groundwater (SWIG) and Ground Water Under the Direct Influence (GWUDI) of surface water. Lead worker for the programs water sampling needs in the eastern panhandle of the state. Assist with the development of the source water protection plan, well driller and GWUDI databases used by our programs. Assist with training and certification, especially the water well driller program and proctoring exams in the Kearneysville District. Assist with outreach, education and training including attending state and federal meetings and participating in their work groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience as described below may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of training.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the acquisition, preservation, protection and enhancement of environmental resources, or in environmental protection, or in an agency specific area related to environmental impact.
OR
Substitution: Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
