What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Sanitarian - Public Health and Environmental Safety position at WV Department of Health?
Nature of Work
This position will be the Regional Sanitarian for the PHS BUNDLE Region assisting local health departments in the assigned region and inspect state institutions related to the Food Establishment Rule, General Sanitation Rule, and On-site Sewage Rule as assigned. Regional Sanitarian position works closely with public stakeholders, governmental agencies, and private sector industries to address public environmental health needs and provide regulatory and technical support. Will respond to complaints related to public health violations and emergencies. The Regional Sanitarian promotes public health awareness, attends professional development, grant required trainings, and provides 64 hours of OJT to newly hired sanitarians in assigned region.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a sanitarian.
OR
Substitution: A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in public health, environmental science, chemistry, biology, physical science or agriculture may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Special Requirements: Must be licensed as a registered sanitarian by the West Virginia State Board of Sanitarians or be eligible to be licensed with the Board per the Reciprocity section of the Practice of Public Health Sanitation, W. Va. Code R. §20-4-4 et seq. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.

Pay: $48,098.00 - $84,558.00 per year
