What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Commissioner - Bureau for Social Services position at WV Department of Human Services?
General Description: Under the direction of the Commissioner of the Bureau for Social Services, the Deputy Commissioner of Field Operations is responsible for implementation of social service programs in Sixteen (16) judicial districts in the Southern Region of the State. This includes oversight of adult and child protective services, adult services, youth services and family preservation. Responsible for the mandated federal and state requirements, as well as application and monitoring of initiatives, services delivery, program policies, and supervision of the field workers and supervisors.
Employee is subject to being on-call during non-business hours and must be available with access to a telephone. Applicants must possess a valid WV driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to maintain detailed records and extensive documentation are a must. Frequent travel may be required. Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
Previous work in Social Services is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Ten (10) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional administrative experience in public or business administration, budgeting, or program planning within a government or public sector organization.
