What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economic Service Worker Trainee-Hancock Co position at WV Department of Human Services?
Nature of work
Under close supervision, perform in a training role learning the methods of processing benefit applications. Determine eligibility for, and manage a caseload for economic assistance including, but not limited to SNAP, various Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers. Learn to adeptly use department software to administer to a demanding caseload. Comprehend and adhere to complex policy regarding eligibility and issuance of benefits. Learn to conduct interviews with clients. Train how to analyze financial and social information. May retain repayment for economic assistance issued erroneously. Perform related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers or the public and evaluating the data against established standards and guidelines OR two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work.
Substitution: Successful completion of coursework at a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of one (1) year experience for every thirty (30) credit hours of education.
Special Requirement: A valid driver's license may be required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.55 - $24.80 per hour
