The West Virginia Division of Finance is now hiring a Financial Reporting Specialist 1 (FRS 1) in Charleston, WV. This is a great opportunity to work in a position that supports reporting and financial management activities for the state. The FRS 1 will:
- Perform professional accounting work at the full-performance level under general supervision.
- Participate in decisions concerning the completion and the presentation of the comprehensive annual financial report (ACFR), the Single Audit, the Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP), and preparing work papers, footnotes, and other schedules for the West Virginia ACFR, Single Audit, and the SWCAP.
- Maintains contact with state and federal officers and other accounting personnel on developments and issues in financial accounting and reporting.
- Assist contracted Certified Public Accountants (CPA) performing audits of GAAP state financial statements.
- Participate in the development of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) training for agencies and external auditors of state agencies, preview and recommend state accounting and reporting policies and procedures, and interpret WV Code and GASB statements to ensure that the state reports issued are in compliance with state regulations, GASB statements, and OMB Guidance.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and may require up to 24 semester hours in accounting. Preference may be given to applicants with CPA certification, a Master of Professional Accountancy or a Master of Business Administration.
AND
Experience: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in preparing or auditing GAAP based audited financial statements or maintaining accounting systems which support the preparation of GAAP based audited financial statements which included substantial experience with applicable software.
OR
Substitution: Graduate course work in the above areas from an accredited college or university may substitute at a rate of fifteen (15) semester hours for every one (1) year of required experience.
