Certification Details BLS PALS Job Details Peds Stepdown & Floor position at WVU Medicine Childrens Hospital 34 beds total with 9 step down and 6 oncology beds Patient ratios : Step Down 1 : 3, Floor 1 : 5, Oncology 1 : 4 Common diagnoses include RSV, Post Op, Cystic Fibrosis, GI, Nephro, Endocrine Pediatric Med Surg experience required Charge Nurse / House Supervisor available on unit Nurse aids present with a ratio of 1 : 12 Pediatrician not in house 24 / 7 RT Equipment includes Hi Flow and Cpap No telemetry on this unit, RNs do not read strips Job Requirements Required Certifications : BLS, PALS Pediatric experience is a must Peds Step Down experience is a bonus Submission requirements include : must submit to only one position at a time across the WVU system, driver's license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility, previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years, previous travelers must be gone for 2 years Schedule Information Shifts include Days, Nights, and Weekend days & nights Weekend requirement is mandatory No holiday requirement No call or standby requirement Floating requirements apply, may float to various pediatric units Unit Specific Information Unit / Department specific orientation for Inpatient Pediatrics Scrub color / dress code is pewter Additional Details BLS and PALS are required certifications APHON certification is a bonus but not required First to float throughout the Children's hospital May be floated to work in Pediatric Step Down, Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, NICU, PICU, and / or Post-partum Unit
