Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years medical secretarial/medical clerical experience.
- Responsible for all scheduling and pre-registration functions necessary to maintain efficient and smooth operations of the scheduling function, coordinating the scheduling and ordering of procedures for designated departments based on established guidelines.
- Schedules services as requested by physician offices or patients, gives preparation for exams and screens for pertinent information prior to scheduling exam.
- Pre-registers patients in computer system according to the hospital's registration guidelines.
- Responsible for ascertaining insurance information to comply with managed care regulations or other insurance regulations, performing a revenue cycle review, and referring appropriate patients to Financial Care Consultants.
- Maintains records according to hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.
- Collaborates with physician office staff to maintain effective working relationships and to provide education for new office staff members.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new staff members.
- Maintains department equipment.
- Records and reports equipment malfunctions, including initiating service work orders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Frequent sitting.
- Frequent exposure to various parts of the hospital or work from home office environment.
- Possess excellent customer service skills.
- Strong computer skills; ability to navigate scheduling systems and Microsoft office suite.
- Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
