EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One (1) year customer service or general clinical experience
- Transports patients and performs courier duties within the hospital.
- Assists clinical personnel to transport patients as needed.
- Utilizes safety measures and proper body mechanics appropriate to the ages of the patients served when transporting patients.
- Identifies patients appropriate to the ages of patients served before transporting according to Patient Transport Policy
- Greets and introduces self to patient appropriate to the ages of patients served in a friendly, courteous manner.
- Will maintain constant contact with other transporters via the use of Avaya phones
- Displays a positive attitude with visitors and co-workers according to the standards of conduct policy
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Utilizes proper telephone etiquette at all times.
- Documents patient arrival and departure time on log sheet.
- Immediately labels and takes faulty equipment to Maintenance Department for repair.
- Inspects environment to identify safety hazards and reports appropriately.
- Takes faulty equipment out of service immediately
- Follows proper procedures for transporting equipment, supplies, and specimens.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, turning, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull over 50 pounds.
- Exposure to patient hostility and bloodborne pathogens and usage of foot controls.
- Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.
- Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job.
- Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary.
- Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
