Job Details

Education : Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry.

Work Setting : Hospital (staff position), Rural area.

Responsibilities

Tasks

Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders.
Diagnose psychiatric disorders.
Prescribe medication and treatment.
Refer patients for surgery.
Treat diseases and physiological disorders.
Treat psychiatric disorders.
Act as consultants to other physicians.
Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.

Supervision

1 to 2 people.

Credentials

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses

Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC).

Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II).

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination.

Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
