JOB SUMMARY
To keep equipment and building clean and sanitized according to standards established by food regulations. Work with timed effort to meet production start-up.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning of process and packaging equipment. Cleaning of building and premises. Working to safely and sanitarily clean and maintain equipment for food packaging. Must be able to work overtime as required. Must abide by all plant rules and Food Safety regulations, including work, safety and sanitation rules.
DUTIES
1. Assignment to areas and specific duties and methods given. Maintain 5S boards.
2. Keeps oils, waste and solids out of the sewer system.
3. Maintains equipment and building in sanitary mode for food packaging.
4. Assists in production when needed. Complete production changeovers on time without deficiencies.
5. Housekeeping and cleaning is a requirement.
6. Must be able to work independently and in a group with minimal supervision.
7. Attention to detail is a must.
8. Communicate with the Area Manager or Supervisor on a daily basis.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working with pressure sprays and equipment in wet areas. Working with chemicals and wearing safety equipment. Ability to respond quickly and react to situations requiring immediate attention. Must oversee methods and procedures in order to maintain a clean, safe environment in the production of a quality product. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., possess mechanical knowledge for disassembly and reassembly of machines, pumps, bucket elevators, slurry equipment, filters and other process equipment. Must be able to climb ladders, catwalks and bin areas to clean machinery above ground level. Must be able to work well with co-workers and supervisor in a team environment. Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery throughout the plant. Must be able to work off shifts and weekends. Must have good basic math skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form. Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures in the work environment. Safety shoes, PPE attire and earplugs are mandatory in designated areas.
