What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Specialist position at Wyatt's Bed & Biscuit?
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel facility
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their individual needs
- Clean and maintain kennel areas, including cages, runs, and common areas
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Administer medications or treatments as directed.
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for both animals and staff.
Experience:
-Must be reliable and responsible. Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
- Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting, such a training facility or boarding/breeding kennel is desired but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
- Familiarity with basic animal care practices and procedures
- Strong customer service skills to interact with pet owners and provide information about their pets' well-being
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time
Skills:
-Must be good under pressure, neat, punctual and have organizational skills. MUST LOVE DOGS!
- Pet grooming: Ability to perform basic grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
- Customer service: Ability to interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner, providing information about their pets' care.
- Animal restraint: Ability to safely handle and restrain animals during procedures or examinations
- Animal care: Knowledge of basic animal care practices, including feeding, exercise, and hygiene
- Kennel: Understanding of kennel operations and ability to maintain a clean and organized environment
- Dog handling: Ability to safely handle and control dogs of various sizes and temperaments

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
