Full job description
- Performs additional duties as needed and assigned (i.e scheduling clerical duties and performance improvement data collection).
- Applies understanding of basic anatomy and physiology to interpret clinical documentation and identify applicable codes.
- Analyzes and interprets the medical record to its entirety to ensure accurate, complete and consistent selection of diagnoses and procedures to assure the production of quality healthcare data and accurate facility payment.
- Assigns appropriate discharge physician in the system and discharge visit.
- Make determinations on medical coding and takes initiative to complete reviews and coding independently, to avoid delays in workflow process.
- Accurately assigns discharge disposition for all records as required and in accordance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rules and regulations.
- Assist with processing of work orders, supply orders.
- Assist with nursing staffing and scheduling.
- Handles visits and/or calls regarding complaints in a professional manner.
- Maintain official documents and records in appropriate files.
- Comprise correspondence, memoranda, reports, and notices as instructed by the ED PCM.
- Provide support for meetings and special events.
- Coordinate meeting schedules and transcribe meeting minutes.
- Provide information and coordination for special projects, preparing data and follow up.
- Handles with discretion sensitive and confidential information concerning ED Nursing obtained from meetings, correspondence, department activities, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
