What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attending Hematology/Oncology Physician (Per Diem) position at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center?
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (WHMC) is a 220-bed teaching hospital located in an ethnically diverse residential neighborhood directly on the border of northern Brooklyn and Western Queens. WHMC is currently searching for junior to mid-level Hematologist Oncologist to provider Per Diem coverage at the medical center. The successful candidate will be joining an established and growing program to practice high compassion, patient first cancer care with close ties to the community. The ideal candidate would be available for 1 to 2 weeks per month of on-site outpatient clinic coverage and inpatient rounds, weeknight call and weekend call.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing Cancer and Blood practice in our infusion center located at WHMC. The center offers comprehensive services, extensive tumor boards, excellent radiology, and pathology as well as clinical trials with opportunities to participate/lead and the ability for some focus on oncology specialty. Radiation Oncology services are offered on site.
The ideal candidate will provide general adult oncology and hematology consultations, order and supervise chemotherapy administration, all in a warm, professional, and collegial atmosphere.
Position Qualifications:
- Medical Degree from an Accredited University
- New York Medical License/Active NYS DEA
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Hematology &/or Oncology
- Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills
- Hematology Oncology Fellowship
- 3-5 years’ experience preferred but open to graduating fellows
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization to promote a culture of patient safety
- A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, patient-centered Health System
- Thrive in a constantly evolving environment, challenging the status quo and striving to innovate and improve care delivery.
