Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is seeking a dedicated full-time board-certified/board-eligible Gastroenterology physician to join us in pursuit of high-quality patient care. This opportunity is for someone interested in helping grow our GI service line, providing exceptional patient care, and contributing to our organization's mission of delivering high-quality services. It is a full-time position where you can expect a wide range of general Gastroenterology cases across an inpatient and outpatient setting, including shared on-call responsibilities.
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a 220-bed teaching hospital in a residential neighborhood bordering northern Brooklyn and Western Queens. We serve a variety of cultural and ethnic communities. We are committed to quality and compassion in addressing the healthcare needs of urban neighborhoods.
The Gastroenterology physician will focus on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disease. The full-time position offers a flexible schedule of outpatient, inpatient, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular consultations with patients to understand their health conditions and symptoms related to the gastrointestinal tract
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and biopsies to identify diseases
- Diagnose conditions like gastritis, peptic ulcers, gallstones, liver disease, and cancers of the digestive system
- Prescribe and administer treatment which may include medication, lifestyle and dietary changes
- Perform specialized procedures for treatment, such as polyp removal or treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
- Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in gastroenterology and hepatology
- Adhere to privacy regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
- Collect and record patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results. Maintain complete and accurate medical records.
- Provide patient education for managing and understanding their conditions
- Communicate effectively with the clinical team to ensure total delivery of quality care.
- Participate in medical staff educational programs and meetings.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or foreign equivalent
- Completion of a U.S.-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
- Fellowship training in Gastroenterology from an accredited institution
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- Expertise in performing endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures
- General gastroenterology with the option to incorporate subspecialty GI for the physician with additional training
- Must meet the hospital’s medical staff credentialing standards
- Must possess a current, unrestricted New York State license
- Must possess active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration or be eligible for registration.
- Must possess active Medicare/Medicaid Enrollment or be eligible to enroll.
- BLS or ACLS required.
- Must possess strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Comfortable with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and Microsoft Office
- Clinical proficiency in evidence-based medicine
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
We offer an attractive salary, paid malpractice, generous paid time off program, CME days plus allowance, retirement benefits, and a competitive benefits package. The position is a full-time 40-hour-per-week schedule to provide outpatient and inpatient rotation and procedures. There are shared on-call responsibilities. Compensation ranges from $380K to $510K (not including bonuses/incentive compensation or benefits). Loan forgiveness programs are available based on eligibility. Visa candidates may be considered.
