What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Service Representative position at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center?
Responsibilities and Duties will include:
Under the supervision of the Manager/Supervisor, the Patient Access Services Representative answers telephones, greets patients, registers patients, schedules appointments, verifies insurance, processes referrals and authorizations, enters patient financial and demographic data into an electronic system, collects co-pays, and performs routine clerical duties. Works as a member of the team to meet the needs of the patients and the practice. Maintains the philosophy, standards, and policies of the practice and maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.
- Appointment scheduling/rescheduling
- Performs complete registration of patient’s demographic and financial information and enters into the electronic systems. Responsible for the integrity of the data. Scans documents into the electronic systems as required.
- Checks-in patients and accurately arrives the patient in the electronic scheduling system
- Collection and posting of copayments / past due balances / self-payments
- Answering phones
- Prio-authorizations for medications and procedures, if applicable
- Insurance Verifications
- Completes and processes referrals, if applicable
- Monitors patient flow in the waiting room. Proactively resolving patient flow issues related to registration, check-in, and check-out processes.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for patients and families
- Provide excellent customer service to all patients, families, providers, and the clinical team.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- Must type a minimum of 40 words per minute
- This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year job-related experience.
- Congenial manner - ability to deal with/assist persons under stress. Good telephone personality/manner.
- Professional appearance and pleasant personality.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
