Forklift Operator/Yard worker

We are a well established Construction Supply company that has been around since 1972. We are currently looking for a Yard worker/Rebar Fabricator to join our team.

Job Summary

You will be responsible for loading and unloading delivery and customer vehicles. Pulling and loading concrete form and accessories rentals, cutting and bending of rebar with machines to customers specs.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• The right candidate will be a hard worker with a good work ethic. Needs to be able to follow direction and assist salesman with pulling materials in yard.
• Help to fabricate rebar as determined by work order specifications. Retrieves correct materials and performs various fabrication duties.
• Having basic math skills is essential.
• Examines work piece visually, by touch, or using tape rule, calipers, or gauges to ensure product meets desired standards.
• Receive and fill concrete form rentals helping customers fulfil what measurements they need.
• Must be able to operate forklift or loader to complete tasks including loading and unloading trucks with rebar/wire mesh/lumber/concrete forms.
• Communicate with salesman regularly for timing of all orders.
• Maintains condition of work area (i.e., free of trash, product in correct location, etc.).
• Communicate inventory needs for yard to purchasing manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
• Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (100 pounds) or awkward.

Education and Experience

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with rebar fabrication equipment.
• Experience with concrete forming and accessories
• Metal working experience preferred.
• The job is physically demanding, pulling rebar, wire mesh, lumber and other products to fulfill customer orders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
