Our Prek-8 School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic middle school educator to join our team as a 6th-8th Grade Math Teacher with Algebra certification. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mathematics, a commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, and the qualifications to teach Algebra as an accelerated course for 8th graders. This position requires strong instructional skills, adaptability, and the ability to inspire middle school students to achieve academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high-quality math instruction for students in grades 6-8, with an emphasis on engaging and differentiated teaching methods.
- Teach Algebra I to eligible students, ensuring alignment with state standards and preparing students for higher-level mathematics.
- Design and implement lesson plans that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
- Assess student performance through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Use data-driven practices to identify learning gaps and adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including special education staff and other content-area teachers, to support student learning and interdisciplinary projects.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and builds confidence in mathematics.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current with best practices in mathematics instruction and middle school education.
- Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, committees, and events as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid NYS teaching certification in middle school mathematics (6-8) and Algebra I
- Experience: Prior teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred.
- Strong understanding of middle school pedagogy and adolescent development.
- Proficiency in integrating technology and innovative teaching strategies into the curriculum.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience using formative assessments and data to guide instructional decisions.
- Familiarity with state standards and proficiency in designing lessons that meet diverse learners’ needs.
