POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Dry Blend Technician will process ingredients in blending equipment to make batch formulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and start automatic blending equipment.
- Continuously and repeatedly load packaging and raw materials.
- Make product change-over, package size changes.
- Understand scheduling and can adequately perform in the absence of the crew leader.
- Be responsible for quality and quantity of production daily.
- Document and record downtime and machine adjustments.
- Understand and practice loss control of raw and packaging materials.
- Follow detailed procedures and complete paperwork accurately to ensure safe, consistent, and quality products.
- Actively promote safety and identify unsafe actions and conditions using a principle-based safety approach.
- Replenish production line(s) by operating a forklift in a safe manner.
- Mathematically calculate batch and material usage.
- Be responsible for following the Company attendance policy.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a basic understanding of computer systems in the form of data entry.
- Must be organized and possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to perform numerical calculations.
- Proficient in reading and writing.
- Must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs. repetitively.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Able to work independently or in a team environment.
- Must be able to work unscheduled overtime, including weekends.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months’ experience in food processing or food handling.
Physical Demands:
The employee is required to stand while operating blending equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds with help. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently exposed to dusty conditions, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, using platform stairs and must focus on safety.
